Surah Az Zukhruf (The Ornaments of Gold)
43.61
surah 43 - verse 61

Arberry | It is knowledge of the Hour; doubt not concerning it, and follow me. This is a straight path. |
Maududi | Verily he [i.e., Jesus) is a portent of the Hour. So be in no doubt concerning it and follow Me. This is the Straight Way. |
Pickthall | And lo! verily there is knowledge of the Hour. So doubt ye not concerning it, but follow Me. This is the right path. |
Sahih | And indeed, Jesus will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour, so be not in doubt of it, and follow Me. This is a straight path. |
Yusuf Ali | And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way. |

Arberry | Let not Satan bar you; he is for you a manifest foe. |
Maududi | Let not Satan hinder you (from believing in the Hour), for surely he is your open enemy. |
Pickthall | And let not Satan turn you aside. Lo! he is an open enemy for you. |
Sahih | And never let Satan avert you. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy. |
Yusuf Ali | Let not the Evil One hinder you: for he is to you an enemy avowed. |

Arberry | And when Jesus came with the clear signs he said, 'I have come to you with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you some of that whereon you are at variance; so fear you God and obey you me. |
Maududi | When Jesus came with Clear Signs and said: “I have brought wisdom to you that I may make plain to you some of the things you differ about. So fear Allah and follow me. |
Pickthall | When Jesus came with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), he said: I have come unto you with wisdom, and to make plain some of that concerning which ye differ. So keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. |
Sahih | And when Jesus brought clear proofs, he said, "I have come to you with wisdom and to make clear to you some of that over which you differ, so fear Allah and obey me. |
Yusuf Ali | When Jesus came with Clear Signs, he said: "Now have I come to you with Wisdom, and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) on which ye dispute: therefore fear Allah and obey me. |

Arberry | But the parties among them fell into variance; so woe unto those who did evil, because of the chastisement of a painful day. |
Maududi | Then the factions fell apart among themselves. So woe to the wrong-doers from the chastisement of a grievous Day. |
Pickthall | But the factions among them differed. Then woe unto those who do wrong from the doom of a painful day. |
Sahih | But the denominations from among them differed [and separated], so woe to those who have wronged from the punishment of a painful Day. |
Yusuf Ali | But sects from among themselves fell into disagreement: then woe to the wrong-doers, from the Penalty of a Grievous Day! |

Sahih | Are they waiting except for the Hour to come upon them suddenly while they perceive not? |
Yusuf Ali | Do they only wait for the Hour - that it should come on them all of a sudden, while they perceive not? |

Maududi | On that Day even bosom friends shall become enemies to one another, all except the God-fearing. |

Sahih | Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous |
Yusuf Ali | Friends on that day will be foes, one to another,- except the Righteous. |

Arberry | There shall be passed around them platters of gold, and cups, therein being whatever the souls desire, and the eyes delight in. 'And therein, you shall dwell forever. |
Maududi | Platters and cups of gold shall be passed around them, and there shall be all that they might desire and all that their eyes might delight in. (They shall be told): “Herein shall you abide for ever. |
Pickthall | Therein are brought round for them trays of gold and goblets, and therein is all that souls desire and eyes find sweet. And ye are immortal therein. |
Sahih | Circulated among them will be plates and vessels of gold. And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes, and you will abide therein eternally. |
Yusuf Ali | To them will be passed round, dishes and goblets of gold: there will be there all that the souls could desire, all that their eyes could delight in: and ye shall abide therein (for eye). |

Arberry | This is the Paradise that you have been given for an inheritance for the things that you were doing. |
Maududi | Such is the Paradise that you shall inherit by virtue of your good deeds in the life of the world. |
Pickthall | This is the Garden which ye are made to inherit because of what ye used to do. |
Sahih | And that is Paradise which you are made to inherit for what you used to do. |
Yusuf Ali | Such will be the Garden of which ye are made heirs for your (good) deeds (in life). |

Arberry | Therein you have abundant fruits, whereof you may eat.' |
Maududi | Herein you will have abundant fruits of which you will eat.” |

Yusuf Ali | Ye shall have therein abundance of fruit, from which ye shall have satisfaction. |

Maududi | But the evil-doers shall abide in the torment of Hell. |

Yusuf Ali | The sinners will be in the Punishment of Hell, to dwell therein (for aye): |

Maududi | Never will their torment be lightened for them. They shall remain in utter despair. |

Yusuf Ali | Nowise will the (Punishment) be lightened for them, and in despair will they be there overwhelmed. |

Yusuf Ali | Nowise shall We be unjust to them: but it is they who have been unjust themselves. |

Sahih | And they will call, "O Malik, let your Lord put an end to us!" He will say, "Indeed, you will remain." |
Yusuf Ali | They will cry: "O Malik! would that thy Lord put an end to us!" He will say, "Nay, but ye shall abide!" |

Arberry | 'We brought you the truth, but most of you were averse to the truth.' |
Maududi | We brought you the Truth; but to the truth most of you were averse.” |
Pickthall | We verily brought the Truth unto you, but ye were, most of you, averse to the Truth. |
Sahih | We had certainly brought you the truth, but most of you, to the truth, were averse. |
Yusuf Ali | Verily We have brought the Truth to you: but most of you have a hatred for Truth. |

Arberry | Or have they contrived some matter? We too are contriving. |
Maududi | Have they contrived some scheme? If so, We too will contrive a scheme. |
Pickthall | Or do they determine any thing (against the Prophet)? Lo! We (also) are determining. |
Sahih | Or have they devised [some] affair? But indeed, We are devising [a plan]. |
Yusuf Ali | What! have they settled some plan (among themselves)? But it is We Who settle things. |

Arberry | Or do they think We hear not their secret and what they conspire together? Yes indeed, and Our messengers are present with them writing it down. |
Maududi | Or do they think that We do not hear their secret talks and their whispering counsels? Yes, indeed We do and Our messengers [i.e., angels) are with them, writing. |
Pickthall | Or deem they that We cannot hear their secret thoughts and private confidences? Nay, but Our envoys, present with them, do record. |
Sahih | Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private conversations? Yes, [We do], and Our messengers are with them recording. |
Yusuf Ali | Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private counsels? Indeed (We do), and Our messengers are by them, to record. |
