44.21
surah 44 - verse 21

| Maududi | But if you do not believe what I say, leave me alone (and desist from laying hands on me).” |

| Yusuf Ali | "If ye believe me not, at least keep yourselves away from me." |

| Maududi | Then he called upon his Lord: “These are a criminal people.” |

| Sahih | And [finally] he called to his Lord that these were a criminal people. |
| Yusuf Ali | (But they were aggressive:) then he cried to his Lord: "These are indeed a people given to sin." |

| Maududi | (He was told): “Set out with My servants by night for you will certainly be pursued. |

| Sahih | [Allah said], "Then set out with My servants by night. Indeed, you are to be pursued. |
| Yusuf Ali | (The reply came:) "March forth with My Servants by night: for ye are sure to be pursued. |

| Maududi | And leave the sea behind you as calm as ever. Surely they are an army that is doomed to be drowned.” |

| Sahih | And leave the sea in stillness. Indeed, they are an army to be drowned." |
| Yusuf Ali | "And leave the sea as a furrow (divided): for they are a host (destined) to be drowned." |

| Sahih | From Pharaoh. Indeed, he was a haughty one among the transgressors. |
| Yusuf Ali | Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors. |

| Maududi | Are these better or the people of Tubba and those who went before them? We destroyed them for they were a criminal people. |
| Pickthall | Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. |
| Sahih | Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them, [for] indeed, they were criminals. |
| Yusuf Ali | What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin. |
