Surah Al Mursalat (The Winds Which Are Sent)

77.41

surah 77 - verse 41

Arberry Truly the godfearing shall dwell amid shades and fountains,
Maududi Behold, today the God-fearing will be amidst shades and springs,
Pickthall Lo! those who kept their duty are amid shade and fountains,
Sahih Indeed, the righteous will be among shades and springs
Yusuf Ali As to the Righteous, they shall be amidst (cool) shades and springs (of water).

77.42

Arberry and such fruits as their hearts desire:
Maududi and the fruits that they desire (will be ready at hand).
Pickthall And fruits such as they desire.
Sahih And fruits from whatever they desire,
Yusuf Ali And (they shall have) fruits,- all they desire.

77.43

surah 77 - verse 43

Arberry 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working.'
Maududi Eat and drink and may every joy attend you as a reward for your deeds.
Pickthall (Unto them it is said:) Eat, drink and welcome, O ye blessed, in return for what ye did.
Sahih [Being told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do."
Yusuf Ali "Eat ye and drink ye to your heart's content: for that ye worked (Righteousness).

Arberry Even so do We recompense the good-doers.
Maududi Thus do We reward those that do good.
Pickthall Thus do We reward the good.
Sahih Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
Yusuf Ali Thus do We certainly reward the Doers of Good.

Arberry Woe that day unto those who cry it lies!
Maududi Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth!

Sahih Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

surah 77 - verse 46

Arberry 'Eat and take your joy a little; you are sinners!'
Maududi Eat and enjoy yourselves for a while. Surely you are evil-doers.
Pickthall Eat and take your ease (on earth) a little. Lo! ye are guilty.
Sahih [O disbelievers], eat and enjoy yourselves a little; indeed, you are criminals.
Yusuf Ali (O ye unjust!) Eat ye and enjoy yourselves (but) a little while, for that ye are Sinners.

Maududi When it is said to them: “Bow down (before Allah),” they do not bow down.
Pickthall When it is said unto them: Bow down, they bow not down!
Sahih And when it is said to them, "Bow [in prayer]," they do not bow.
Yusuf Ali And when it is said to them, "Prostrate yourselves!" they do not so.
