76.21
surah 76 - verse 21

Arberry | Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. |
Maududi | They [i.e., the virtuous] shall be attired in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade and will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure wine to drink. |
Pickthall | Their raiment will be fine green silk and gold embroidery. Bracelets of silver will they wear. Their Lord will slake their thirst with a pure drink. |
Sahih | Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. |
Yusuf Ali | Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. |
76.22

Arberry | Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' |
Maududi | Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. |
Pickthall | (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. |
Sahih | [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." |
Yusuf Ali | "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." |

Maududi | (O Prophet), indeed We have revealed the Qur'an to you in portions. |
Pickthall | Lo! We, even We, have revealed unto thee the Qur'an, a revelation; |
Sahih | Indeed, it is We who have sent down to you, [O Muhammad], the Qur'an progressively. |
Yusuf Ali | It is We Who have sent down the Qur'an to thee by stages. |
76.24
surah 76 - verse 24

Arberry | so be thou patient under the judgment of thy Lord, and obey not one of them, sinner or unbeliever. |
Maududi | So persevere with the command of your Lord and do not pay any heed to the wicked and the unbelieving, |
Pickthall | So submit patiently to thy Lord's command, and obey not of them any guilty one or disbeliever. |
Sahih | So be patient for the decision of your Lord and do not obey from among them a sinner or ungrateful [disbeliever]. |
Yusuf Ali | Therefore be patient with constancy to the Command of thy Lord, and hearken not to the sinner or the ingrate among them. |

Arberry | and part of the night; bow down before Him and magnify Him through the long night. |
Maududi | and prostrate yourself before Him at night, and extol His Glory during the long watches of the night. |
Pickthall | And worship Him (a portion) of the night. And glorify Him through the livelong night. |
Sahih | And during the night prostrate to Him and exalt Him a long [part of the] night. |
Yusuf Ali | And part of the night, prostrate thyself to Him; and glorify Him a long night through. |

surah 76 - verse 27

Arberry | Surely these men love the hasty world, and leave be behind them a heavy day. |
Maududi | Verily they love (the good of this world) that is hastily obtainable and are oblivious of the burdensome Day ahead of them. |
Pickthall | Lo! these love fleeting life, and put behind them (the remembrance of) a grievous day. |
Sahih | Indeed, these [disbelievers] love the immediate and leave behind them a grave Day. |
Yusuf Ali | As to these, they love the fleeting life, and put away behind them a Day (that will be) hard. |
76.28

Arberry | We created them, and We strengthened their joints; and, when We will, We shall exchange their likes. |
Maududi | We created them and strengthened their joints; and whenever We wish, We can change their faces entirely. |
Pickthall | We, even We, created them, and strengthened their frame. And when We will, We can replace them, bringing others like them in their stead. |
Sahih | We have created them and strengthened their forms, and when We will, We can change their likenesses with [complete] alteration. |
Yusuf Ali | It is We Who created them, and We have made their joints strong; but, when We will, We can substitute the like of them by a complete change. |

Arberry | Surely this is a Reminder; so he who will, takes unto his Lord a way. |
Maududi | Verily this is an Exhortation; so let him who so will take a way to his Lord. |
Pickthall | Lo! this is an Admonishment, that whosoever will may choose a way unto his Lord. |
Sahih | Indeed, this is a reminder, so he who wills may take to his Lord a way. |
Yusuf Ali | This is an admonition: Whosoever will, let him take a (straight) Path to his Lord. |
76.30
surah 76 - verse 30

Arberry | But you will not unless God wills; surely God is ever All-knowing, All-wise. |
Maududi | But your willing shall be of no avail until Allah Himself so wills. Surely Allah is All-Knowing, Most Wise. |
Pickthall | Yet ye will not, unless Allah willeth. Lo! Allah is Knower, Wise. |
Sahih | And you do not will except that Allah wills. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise. |
Yusuf Ali | But ye will not, except as Allah wills; for Allah is full of Knowledge and Wisdom. |
76.31
surah 76 - verse 31

Arberry | For He admits into His mercy whomsoever He will; as for the evildoers, He has prepared for them a painful chastisement. |
Maududi | He admits to His Mercy whomsoever He pleases. As for the wrong-doers, He has prepared for them a grievous chastisement. |
Pickthall | He maketh whom He will to enter His mercy, and for evil-doers hath prepared a painful doom. |
Sahih | He admits whom He wills into His mercy; but the wrongdoers - He has prepared for them a painful punishment. |
Yusuf Ali | He will admit to His Mercy whom He will; But the wrong-doers,- for them has He prepared a grievous Penalty. |
