Maududi | On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): |

Sahih | The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], |
Yusuf Ali | That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. |

52.16
surah 52 - verse 16

Arberry | Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' |
Maududi | Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” |
Pickthall | Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. |
Sahih | [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." |
Yusuf Ali | "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." |
52.17
surah 52 - verse 17

Arberry | Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, |
Maududi | Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, |
Pickthall | Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight, |
Sahih | Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, |
Yusuf Ali | As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- |
52.18
surah 52 - verse 18

Arberry | rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. |
Maududi | enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. |
Pickthall | Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. |
Sahih | Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. |
Yusuf Ali | Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. |
52.19
surah 52 - verse 19

Maududi | (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” |
Pickthall | (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, |
Sahih | [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." |
Yusuf Ali | (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." |
52.20
surah 52 - verse 20

Arberry | Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. |
Maududi | The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. |
Pickthall | Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. |
Sahih | They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. |
Yusuf Ali | They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. |
