51.1

51.14
surah 51 - verse 14

Arberry | 'Taste your trial! This is that you were seeking to hasten.' |
Maududi | (and be told): “Taste your ordeal! This is what you were seeking to hasten.” |
Pickthall | (And it will be said unto them): Taste your torment (which ye inflicted). This is what ye sought to hasten. |
Sahih | [And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient." |
Yusuf Ali | "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!" |
51.15
surah 51 - verse 15

Arberry | Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains |
Maududi | As for the God-fearing, they shall be in the midst of gardens and fountains, |
Pickthall | Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings, |
Sahih | Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs, |
Yusuf Ali | As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs, |
51.16
surah 51 - verse 16

Arberry | taking whatsoever their Lord has given them; they were good-doers before that. |
Maududi | joyously receiving what their Lord will have granted them. Verily they did good works before (the coming of this Day): |
Pickthall | Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good; |
Sahih | Accepting what their Lord has given them. Indeed, they were before that doers of good. |
Yusuf Ali | Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. |
51.17

Sahih | And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, |
Yusuf Ali | And in the hour of early dawn, they (were found) praying for Forgiveness; |

Maududi | and in their wealth there was a rightful share for him who would ask and for the destitute. |

Sahih | And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived. |
Yusuf Ali | And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). |
51.20
