26.21
surah 26 - verse 21

Arberry | so I fled from you, fearing you. But my Lord gave me Judgment and made me one of the Envoys. |
Maududi | Then I fled for fear of you. Then my Lord bestowed wisdom and authority on me and made me one of the Messengers. |
Pickthall | Then I fled from you when I feared you, and my Lord vouchsafed me a command and appointed me (of the number) of those sent (by Him). |
Sahih | So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers. |
Yusuf Ali | "So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers. |

Arberry | That is a blessing thou reproachest me with, having enslaved the Children of Israel.' |
Maududi | Now this is the favour that you tauntingly remind me of: that you enslaved the Children of Israel!" |

Sahih | And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?" |
Yusuf Ali | "And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!" |

Sahih | [Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced." |
Yusuf Ali | (Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure." |

Sahih | [Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad." |
Yusuf Ali | (Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!" |

Maududi | Pharaoh said: "If you take any god other than me, I will certainly make you one of those (who are rotting) in prison." |
Pickthall | (Pharaoh) said: If thou choosest a god other than me, I assuredly shall place thee among the prisoners. |
Sahih | [Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned." |
Yusuf Ali | (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!" |

Maududi | Moses said: "Even if I were to bring a Clear Sign to you?" |

Yusuf Ali | (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?" |

Yusuf Ali | (Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!" |

Maududi | (No sooner had he said this than) Moses threw down his rod and behold, it was a veritable serpent, |

Sahih | So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest. |
Yusuf Ali | So (Moses) threw his rod, and behold, it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)! |

Sahih | [Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician. |
Yusuf Ali | (Pharaoh) said to the Chiefs around him: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed: |

Yusuf Ali | They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while), and dispatch to the Cities heralds to collect- |
