Surah Al-Masadd (The Flame)
111.1
surah 111 - verse 1

Arberry | Perish the hands of Abu Lahab, and perish he! |
Maududi | Destroyed were the hands of Abu Lahab, and he lay utterly doomed. |
Pickthall | The power of Abu Lahab will perish, and he will perish. |
Sahih | May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he. |
Yusuf Ali | Perish the hands of the Father of Flame! Perish he! |

Arberry | His wealth avails him not, neither what he has earned; |
Maududi | His wealth did not avail him, nor his acquisitions. |
Pickthall | His wealth and gains will not exempt him. |
Sahih | His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained. |

Sahih | And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood. |

Sahih | Around her neck is a rope of [twisted] fiber. |
Yusuf Ali | A twisted rope of palm-leaf fibre round her (own) neck! |
