Surah Al Ghashiya (The Overwhelming Event)

88.21

surah 88 - verse 21

Arberry Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder;
Maududi So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel,
Pickthall Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer,
Sahih So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder.
Yusuf Ali Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish.

88.22

surah 88 - verse 22

Arberry thou art not charged to oversee them.
Maududi and are not invested with the authority to compel them.
Pickthall Thou art not at all a warder over them.
Sahih You are not over them a controller.
Yusuf Ali Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs.

88.23

surah 88 - verse 23

Arberry But he who turns his back, and disbelieves,
Maududi But whoever will turn away (from the Truth),
Pickthall But whoso is averse and disbelieveth,
Sahih However, he who turns away and disbelieves -
Yusuf Ali But if any turn away and reject Allah,-

surah 88 - verse 24

Arberry God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement.
Maududi Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement.
Pickthall Allah will punish him with direst punishment.
Sahih Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment.
Yusuf Ali Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment,

88.25

surah 88 - verse 25

Arberry Truly, to Us is their return;
Maududi Surely to Us is their return;
Pickthall Lo! unto Us is their return
Sahih Indeed, to Us is their return.
Yusuf Ali For to Us will be their return;

88.26

Arberry then upon Us shall rest their reckoning.
Maududi and then it is for Us to call them to account.
Pickthall And Ours their reckoning.
Sahih Then indeed, upon Us is their account.
Yusuf Ali Then it will be for Us to call them to account.
