38.81

surah 38 - verse 81

Arberry until the day of the known time.'
Maududi till the Day whose Hour I know.”
Pickthall Until the day of the time appointed.
Sahih Until the Day of the time well-known."
Yusuf Ali "Till the Day of the Time Appointed."

38.82

surah 38 - verse 82

Arberry Said he, 'Now, by Thy glory, I shall pervert them all together,
Maududi (Iblis) said: “By Your glory, I shall mislead them all
Pickthall He said: Then, by Thy might, I surely will beguile them every one,
Sahih [Iblees] said, "By your might, I will surely mislead them all
Yusuf Ali (Iblis) said: "Then, by Thy power, I will put them all in the wrong,-

surah 38 - verse 83

Arberry excepting those Thy servants among them that are sincere.'
Maududi except those of Your servants, the chosen ones from amongst them.”
Pickthall Save Thy single-minded slaves among them.
Sahih Except, among them, Your chosen servants."
Yusuf Ali "Except Thy Servants amongst them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)."

38.84

surah 38 - verse 84

Arberry Said He, 'This is the truth, and the truth I say;
Maududi He (i.e. Allah) said: “This is the Truth -- and I only speak the Truth --
Pickthall He said: The Truth is, and the Truth I speak,
Sahih [Allah] said, "The truth [is My oath], and the truth I say -
Yusuf Ali (Allah) said: "Then it is just and fitting- and I say what is just and fitting-

38.85

surah 38 - verse 85

Arberry I shall assuredly fill Gehenna with thee, and with whosoever of them follows thee, all together.'
Maududi I will certainly fill the Gehenna with you and with all those among them who follow you.”
Pickthall That I shall fill hell with thee and with such of them as follow thee, together.
Sahih [That] I will surely fill Hell with you and those of them that follow you all together."
Yusuf Ali "That I will certainly fill Hell with thee and those that follow thee,- every one."

38.86

surah 38 - verse 86

Arberry Say: 'I ask of you no wage for it, neither am I of those who take things upon themselves.
Maududi (O Prophet), tell them: “I do not ask you for any recompense for the performance of this task; nor am I given to affectation.
Pickthall Say (O Muhammad, unto mankind): I ask of you no fee for this, and I am no simulating.
Sahih Say, [O Muhammad], "I do not ask you for the Qur'an any payment, and I am not of the pretentious
Yusuf Ali Say: "No reward do I ask of you for this (Qur'an), nor am I a pretender.

38.87

surah 38 - verse 87

Arberry It is nothing but a reminder unto all beings,
Maududi This is nothing but an Admonition for all people the world over.
Pickthall Lo! it is naught else than a reminder for all peoples
Sahih It is but a reminder to the worlds.
Yusuf Ali "This is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds.

38.88

surah 38 - verse 88

Arberry and you shall surely know its tiding after a while.'
Maududi You will know the truth of the matter after a while.”
Pickthall And ye will come in time to know the truth thereof.
Sahih And you will surely know [the truth of] its information after a time."
Yusuf Ali "And ye shall certainly know the truth of it (all) after a while."
