Surah Al Muminoon (The Believers)
23.41
surah 23 - verse 41

Arberry | And the Cry seized them justly, and We made them as scum; so away with the people of the evildoers! |
Maududi | Then a mighty blast quite justly overtook them, and We reduced them to a rubble. So away with the wrong-doing folk! |
Pickthall | So the (Awful) Cry overtook them rightfully, and We made them like as wreckage (that a torrent hurleth). A far removal for wrongdoing folk! |
Sahih | So the shriek seized them in truth, and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people. |
Yusuf Ali | Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong! |

Arberry | Then sent We Our Messengers successively; whenever its Messenger came to a nation they cried him lies, so We caused some of them to follow others, and We made them as but tales; so away with a people who do not believe! |
Maududi | Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Whenever a Messenger came to his people they rejected him, calling him a liar. Thereupon, We made each people to follow the other (to its doom), reducing them to mere tales (of the past). Scourged be the people who do not believe! |
Pickthall | Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not! |
Sahih | Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe. |
Yusuf Ali | Then sent We our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe! |

Sahih | To Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people. |
Yusuf Ali | To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: But these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people. |

Maududi | They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" |
Pickthall | And they said: Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves, and whose folk are servile unto us? |
Sahih | They said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude?" |
Yusuf Ali | They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!" |

Arberry | and We made Mary's son, and his mother, to be a sign, and gave them refuge upon a height, where was a hollow and a spring: |
Maududi | And We made Mary's son, and his mother, a Sign, and We gave them refuge on a lofty ground, a peaceful site with springs flowing in it. |
Pickthall | And We made the son of Mary and his mother a portent, and We gave them refuge on a height, a place of flocks and watersprings. |
Sahih | And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and sheltered them within a high ground having level [areas] and flowing water. |
Yusuf Ali | And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs. |

Arberry | 'O Messengers, eat of the good things and do righteousness; surely I know the things you do. |
Maududi | Messengers! Partake of the things that are clean, and act righteously. I know well all that you do. |
Pickthall | O ye messengers! Eat of the good things, and do right. Lo! I am Aware of what ye do. |
Sahih | [Allah said], "O messengers, eat from the good foods and work righteousness. Indeed, I, of what you do, am Knowing. |
Yusuf Ali | O ye messengers! enjoy (all) things good and pure, and work righteousness: for I am well-acquainted with (all) that ye do. |

Arberry | Surely this community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so fear Me.' |
Maududi | This community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so hold Me alone in fear. |
Pickthall | And lo! this your religion is one religion and I am your Lord, so keep your duty unto Me. |
Sahih | And indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me." |
Yusuf Ali | And verily this Brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore fear Me (and no other). |

Arberry | But they split in their affair between them into sects, each party rejoicing in what is with them. |
Maududi | But people later cut up their religion into bits, each group rejoicing in what they have. |
Pickthall | But they (mankind) have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in its tenets. |
Sahih | But the people divided their religion among them into sects - each faction, in what it has, rejoicing. |
Yusuf Ali | But people have cut off their affair (of unity), between them, into sects: each party rejoices in that which is with itself. |

Sahih | And they who give what they give while their hearts are fearful because they will be returning to their Lord - |
Yusuf Ali | And those who dispense their charity with their hearts full of fear, because they will return to their Lord;- |
