23.1

Yusuf Ali | Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (in their case) they are free from blame, |

surah 23 - verse 7

Yusuf Ali | Then We placed him as (a drop of) sperm in a place of rest, firmly fixed; |
23.14
surah 23 - verse 14

Arberry | then We created of the drop a clot then We created of the clot a tissue then We created of the tissue bones then We garmented the bones in flesh; thereafter We produced him as another creature. So blessed be God, the fairest of creators! |
Maududi | then We made this drop into a clot, then We made the clot into a lump, then We made the lump into bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, and then We caused it to grow into another creation. Thus Most Blessed is Allah, the Best of all those that create. |
Pickthall | Then fashioned We the drop a clot, then fashioned We the clot a little lump, then fashioned We the little lump bones, then clothed the bones with flesh, and then produced it as another creation. So blessed be Allah, the Best of creators! |
Sahih | Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators. |
Yusuf Ali | Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus) lump; then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed out of it another creature. So blessed be Allah, the best to create! |
23.15
surah 23 - verse 15

23.16
surah 23 - verse 16

Maududi | and then on the Day of Resurrection you shall certainly be raised up. |
Pickthall | Then lo! on the Day of Resurrection ye are raised (again). |
Sahih | Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, will be resurrected. |
Yusuf Ali | Again, on the Day of Judgment, will ye be raised up. |
23.17
surah 23 - verse 17

Arberry | And We created above you seven ways, and We were not heedless of creation. |
Maududi | We have indeed fashioned above you seven paths. Never were We unaware of the task of creation. |
Pickthall | And We have created above you seven paths, and We are never unmindful of creation. |
Sahih | And We have created above you seven layered heavens, and never have We been of [Our] creation unaware. |
Yusuf Ali | And We have made, above you, seven tracts; and We are never unmindful of (our) Creation. |
23.18
surah 23 - verse 18

Arberry | And We sent down out of heaven water in measure and lodged it in the earth; and We are able to take it away. |
Maududi | We sent down water from the sky in right measure, and caused it to stay in the earth, and We have the power to cause it to vanish (in the manner We please). |
Pickthall | And we send down from the sky water in measure, and We give it lodging in the earth, and lo! We are Able to withdraw it. |
Sahih | And We have sent down rain from the sky in a measured amount and settled it in the earth. And indeed, We are Able to take it away. |
Yusuf Ali | And We send down water from the sky according to (due) measure, and We cause it to soak in the soil; and We certainly are able to drain it off (with ease). |
23.19
surah 23 - verse 19

Arberry | Then We produced for you therewith gardens of palms and vines wherein are many fruits for you, and of them you eat, |
Maududi | Then through water We caused gardens of date-palms and vines to grow for you wherein you have an abundance of delicious fruits and from them you derive your livelihood. |
Pickthall | Then We produce for you therewith gardens of date-palms and grapes, wherein is much fruit for you and whereof ye eat; |
Sahih | And We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines in which for you are abundant fruits and from which you eat. |
Yusuf Ali | With it We grow for you gardens of date-palms and vines: in them have ye abundant fruits: and of them ye eat (and have enjoyment),- |
23.20
surah 23 - verse 20

Arberry | and a tree issuing from the Mount of Sinai that bears oil and seasoning for all to eat. |
Maududi | And We also produced the tree which springs forth from Mount Sinai, containing oil and sauce for those that eat. |
Pickthall | And a tree that springeth forth from Mount Sinai that groweth oil and relish for the eaters. |
Sahih | And [We brought forth] a tree issuing from Mount Sinai which produces oil and food for those who eat. |
Yusuf Ali | Also a tree springing out of Mount Sinai, which produces oil, and relish for those who use it for food. |
